In a recent act of protest, pro-Palestinian activists vandalized former U.S. President Donald Trump‘s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland. The incident occurred in response to Trump’s controversial proposal to redevelop the Gaza Strip into a luxury tourist destination, a plan critics have labeled as “ethnic cleansing.”
The activist group Palestine Action claimed responsibility for the vandalism. They defaced the resort’s clubhouse with red paint and inscribed the message “Gaza Is Not 4 Sale” in large letters on the lawn. Additionally, they damaged several greens, including one of the course’s most prestigious holes, historically used in Open Championships.
This protest was a direct reaction to Trump’s recent statements suggesting the U.S. could “take over the Gaza Strip” and transform it into the “Riviera of the Middle East,” involving the relocation of Palestinian residents. An AI-generated video shared by Trump depicted his vision for a revamped Gaza, featuring lavish beaches and modern infrastructure, which further fueled the controversy.

In a statement, Palestine Action condemned Trump’s approach, asserting that Gaza is not his property to dispose of and emphasizing that his own properties are not immune to acts of resistance.
Police Scotland reported receiving a call about the damage around 4:40 a.m. on March 8, 2025, and have initiated an investigation. A spokesperson for Trump Turnberry described the act as “childish” and “criminal,” but assured that the resort’s operations would continue unaffected.
Trump Turnberry, acquired by Trump in 2014, is renowned for its championship golf courses and has hosted four Open Championships. However, since the acquisition, the resort has not been selected to host the event, with officials citing concerns over potential distractions from the competition.
The vandalism at Turnberry highlights the intense opposition to Trump’s Gaza proposal, reflecting broader tensions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and international responses to proposed solutions.
