Kalpen Suresh Modi, better known as Kal Penn, is an American actor, academic lecturer and former White House Staff member in the Barack Obama administration. Kal Penn recently added a new career title to the list; the 44-year-old is also an author.
Admit it, Harold and Kumar made our teenhood beautiful with their stupidly funny skits. Harold (played by John Cho) and Kumar (played by Kal) were best friends in the movie series, and they have continued their friendship outside the movie franchise.
We saw John Cho promoting his friend's book on Instagram. Before that, Penn took to his social media profile to announce his first-ever book, "You Can't Be Serious." Sharing the cover of his book on March 2, 2021, Kal Penn wrote, "Anouncing my first book! 'You Can't Be Serious' is available for pre- order now."
The fans were delighted by the news and showered the actor with their best wishes following the announcement. To make you feel like pre-ordering the book, the 44-year-old actor talks about his relationship with his husband, Josh, too, in the book.
The couple is yet to get married officially; however, Kal Penn and his fiance are already engaged, so it's safe to address them as spouses since this is the first time many of Kal Penn's fans found out about his relationship.
Well, to find out about their relationship, how Kal Penn met his husband-to-be, Josh, and how things panned out after that, you have to read the book. "Harold and Kumar" actor's book is worth a read, at least once.
The reason Kal Penn wants his fans to find out about his relationship via a book, because, well, of course, it's his book, and secondly, Kal Penn's partner is not a fan of the spotlight. From what we saw and know, Kal Penn's husband, Josh, doesn't like the media attention.
Josh, however, likes to join Kal Penn in sports events.
Kal Penn never really shares pictures of his husband-to-be, Josh, on social media. However, there are a few events where the couple was spotted together. Mostly at some sports events. When asked about his husband, Kal Penn said,
"I've always been very public with everybody I've personally interacted with. Whether it's somebody that I meet at a bar, if Josh and I are out or we're talking to friends. I'm really excited to share our relationship with readers. But Josh, my partner, my parents, and my brother, four people who I'm closest to in the family, are fairly quiet. They don't love attention and shy away from the limelight."

Since Kal Penn also shared his relationship with Josh, he said he mentions him in the book without disrespecting his privacy. Kal said,
"Figuring out the narrative of how to respect who they really are, with telling my story — that includes: my work life, both in Hollywood and DC, it includes my love life with Josh and how we met, it includes my parents, to the extent that I'm willing to share stories about their upbringing. So that was the most important thing for me. I wanted my story to be authentic from my perspective and told in a way that makes you feel like you really get to know me."
Penn is planning his wedding with Josh, and in his press meet, the 44-year-old actor said he wants an Indian wedding, something like that of Netflix series that showcases big fat Indian wedding, "The Big Day." (C'mon, Netflix, give them a show already!)
Kal Pen, on his wedding, said,
"The pandemic made a lot of the wedding conversations go on pause. We're both very understated about all of the pomp and circumstance stuff. The big disagreement now is whether it's a huge wedding or a tiny wedding. I want the big-a** Indian wedding. "
While Josh, on the other hand, hates attention. Kal Penn's husband-to-be said, "Or, we could just do quick 20-minute thing with our families and that's it." Well, the couple has to come to a conclusion that it's going to be a mid-sized "Indian wedding."
