Verne Troyer, the actor who is well known for playing the character of "Mini-Me" in Mike Myers' "Austin Powers" franchise is no more with us. The actor was reportedly struggling with alcoholism. Troyer spent the final weeks of his life in a hospital in Los Angeles for alcohol intoxication.
The 49-year-old Verne Troyer's death was confirmed on April 21, 2018, and the LA County Dept. of Medical Examiner-coroner ruled the death as suicide. The examiner said the Mini Me actor died from the effects of alcohol.
The actor had previously addressed his battle with alcoholism. Verne Troyer took to Facebook to post a statement; in the status, he wrote,
"I've been hearing from some concerned fans, so I'd like to address a very personal situation. As you know, I've battled alcohol addiction in the past and while it's not always been an easy fight, I'm willing to continue my fight day by day."
Verne added, "I've been receiving treatment for the last week and I am voluntarily checking into a treatment center later this week to continue to get the help that I need. I want to thank everyone that's reached out with their messages of support, it truly means the world to me. With your support, I got this."
The same Facebook post was showered with blessings and well-wishes from Troye's loyal fans; one fan wrote, "While I was sad to hear that you are going back into rehab, I think I can safely speak for many of your friends and family when I say that that we are proud of you for seeing the need for help. So many don't. I can't help but admire your ability to recognize the issue and head it off at the pass. You are smart. You are strong. This, too, shall pass, my friend. We'll see you on the other side."

Despite Verne Troyer's battle with alcoholism, the actor died on April 21, 2022. Verne's official page posted a statement on his Facebook page. In the statement, they wrote,
"It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today. Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, Troyer would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with his platform and worked towards spreading that message every day."
The statement continued, "Verne Troyer inspired people worldwide with his drive, determination, and attitude. He was there to show everyone what he was capable of doing, on film & television sets, on commercial shoots, at comic cons & personal appearances, to his own YouTube videos. Even though his stature was small and his parents often wondered if Troye would be able to reach up and open doors on his own in his life, he went on to open more doors for himself and others than anyone could have imagined."
"He also touched more people's hearts than he will ever know. Verne was also a fighter when it came to his battles. Past few years, Verne'd struggled, won, and fought some more battles; unfortunately, this time was too much. During this recent adversity, he was baptized while surrounded by his family. The family appreciates that they have this time to grieve privately," The official report added.
Lastly, the management added, "Depression and Suicide are severe issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. Be kind to one another. And always know that it's never too late to reach out to someone for help. Instead of flowers, please feel free to donate in Verne's name to either of his two favorite charities; The Starkey Hearing Foundation and Best Buddies."
