A devastating event occurred at midnight on November 19, 2022, at Club Q. Five people died after a shooting at a gay bar in Colorado Springs. A gunman, identified as Anderson Lee Aldrich, opened fire just before midnight Saturday. The incident killed five people and injured more than 18.

Colorado Springs Police Chief, Adrian Vasquez, in his statement said the gunman was carrying multiple firearms. Anderson Lee, 22, used a long rifle in the shooting. Further violence was stopped when two people confronted the shooter.

Vasquez said the police arrived at the scene within seconds of 911 calls received at 11.56 pm. 39 patrol officers responded, and 11 ambulances went to the scene. The shooter, Anderson Aldrich, was detained at 12:02 am.

Online records suggest the gay nightclub shooter, Anderson Lee Aldrich, is a 22-year-old from Colorado. He lives in an apartment complex with a 44-year-old woman. While it’s not confirmed yet, Anderson Lee Aldrich, has previous criminal records.

A man with the same name as Club Q shooter was accused of making bomb threats with weapons in the Lorson Ranch, Colorado Springs. According to a press release on June 18, 2021, Anderson’s mother said her son was threatening to cause harm with a homemade bomb, weapons and ammunition.

Anderson Lee Aldrich was previously booked into the El Paso County jail on charges of felony menacing and first-degree kidnapping. Regarding the gay nightclub shooting, the motives are not clear yet. However, the Club Q owner’s statement suggested it was a “hate attack.”

Club Q’s Statement on Their Social Media Handles

Colorado gay nightclub, Club Q, released a statement following the incident. The owner of the club thanked its heroic customers who subdued the gunman and ended the violence. They wrote,

“Club Q is devastated by the senseless attack on our community. Our prays and thoughts are with all the victims and their families and friends. We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack.”

What Happened to 18 Injured People?

According to CNN, 18 injured people were rushed to nearby hospitals. Some of the victims were in critical condition with gunshot wounds. The report also suggests, the shooter, Anderson Lee, was also injured and is being treated.

The police chief, Vasquez, revealed Anderson’s injuries are with his altercation with other club customers, and officers didn’t shoot at him. Adrian added, “Club Q is a safe haven for our LGBTQ citizens. Every citizen has a right to feel safe and secure in our city, to go about our beautiful city without fear of being harmed or treated poorly.”

Though Anderson Lee Aldrich was detained, the police didn’t provide any mugshots of the perpetrator, nor does he have an Instagram account or any other social media accounts.
