“SAS: Rise of the Black Swan,” formerly titled “SAS: Red Notice,” is on Netflix. It’s not a Netflix Original, but it’s available to stream on the platform. The movie is based on the best-selling novel by former SAS operator Andy McNab.

Andy McNab, whose real name is Steven Billy, recently described himself as a functional psychopath while discussing SAS: Rise of the Black Swan; the author said Buckingham is inspired by his own experience.

The former British Army soldier, Steven Billy, was born in 1959 in London Borough of Southwark. Since he was adopted, the author didn’t live a good childhood and engaged in petty crimes.

At age 17 in 1977, Andy McNab completed basic training in Kent, left for Northern Ireland in December of that year, and returned to Country Armagh in 1979. By the time he was promoted as Lance Corporal.

Andy spent a decade as an “air troop” with B Squadron, 22 SAS Regiment, training as a specialist in Counter-Terrorism, prime target elimination, demolitions, weapons, tactics, covert, surveillance roles, and information gathering, hostile environments, and VIP protection.

In 2010, McNab took part in a psychological study at Oxford University which determined he was a functional psychopath, which translates to “the author doesn’t feel normal emotions like empathy or fear.” After two years, in 2012, Andy wrote the fictional novel “Red Notice,” and several other series.

That’s how the movie came about, “SAS: Rise of the Black Swan,” formerly titled “SAS: Red Notice,” is The Sky Film adaptation of Andy McNab’s novel, a movie about a SAS soldier who is onboard the Eurostar underground train traveling from Paris to London, when terrorists hijack it. Andy and his wife have been involved in the production of the movie.

Fans Reaction on “SAS: Rise of the Black Swan”

The movie got pretty much a mixed reaction from the audience. When it comes to Andy McNab, people expect pacy, exciting thrillers that offer perfect ammunition for screen adaptations. Even the author and his wife were on set to ensure Sam Heughan and the rest of the cast can depict their roles realistically. But this movie didn’t meet the fans’ expectations.

But this movie is still okay for people who enjoy gritty stories in which one good man goes up against a group of ruthless bad guys.
